Determination of optimal control and corresponding economical cost for the air handling unit operation

master thesis, 2017

The pursuit of reducing energy consumption involves the issue of savings in heating, cooling and ventilation systems. The reason for this is a large share of energy consumption of the same system in buildings that takes 40% of total energy consumption. This paper presents the modeling of the components of the central unit for air preparation and securing certain control variables of the same system. Modeling is needed in order to be as realistic as possible to devise a smart way of managing and consuming energy. The same models provide certain control variables required by the algorithm and responsible for scheduling jobs in such a way that for the required quantities of temperature and air quality the whole system spends minimum amount of energy or money.
