BACHELOR'S THESIS 2020

Control of nutrient dosing in an automated greenhouse

With the trends of globalization, increasing focus is put to food quality as one of the main contributors to healthy lifestyle. Today’s technology enables significant possibilities in advancing plant cultivation by ensuring required climate conditions in a greenhouse, cultivation in harsh environments and extended harvest. The aim of this work is to regulate the level of nutrients fed to the plant through pH value control in an automated greenhouse. A hydrodynamic mathematical model of the system is developed. Various simulations with numerous variables were made, all of which affected pH value. System components (sensors and actuators) are chosen and rules of pH regulation are conceived. The PI controller is chosen and designed.
